Sacred Sites Water Colours
I have always enjoyed visiting ancient sites, and love the atmosphere and the sense of past ancestors touching these places.
I love standing stones and stone circles, and many have been subjects for me. Avebury is a place I re-visit regularly and have painted many times.
My interest in these sites led to me writing and illustrating my first book on Sacred Springs (originally published as Holy Wells of the British Isles) for the publisher Wooden Books. I had found that the stone circles and standing stones were mainly well cared for, but many wells were dry or abandoned. At the time most books on them were quite technical, and I felt there was a gap for a book that covered the many beautiful legends surrounding the wells.
All these ancient, sacred sites have a beautiful atmosphere, and connect us to the past and to the earth.
